Documentation
Everything you need to use dev_timer.
Getting Started
dev_timer turns your GitHub commit history into invoices. Connect your GitHub account, set up your clients, and start generating invoices.
- Sign in with GitHub and connect your repositories
- Add your clients with their billing details and hourly rates
- Generate timesheets from your commits and create invoices
Clients
Clients represent the people or companies you bill. Each client is linked to a GitHub repository so dev_timer knows which commits belong to which client.
- Go to Clients in the sidebar and click Add Client
- Enter their name, email, and hourly rate
- Select the GitHub repository they're associated with
- When you create an invoice, the app matches the repo to find the right client
Invoices
Invoices are generated from your commit history with professional PDF output.
Creating an invoice
Go to Invoices → New Invoice, pick a client, set the date range, and add line items.
Timesheets
Timesheets are generated from your GitHub commits. The app reads your commit history for a date range and estimates hours based on the diffs.
- Select a client, repo, branch, and date range
- The app fetches commits and uses AI to estimate time spent on each
- Review and adjust the estimates before saving
- Convert the timesheet into an invoice when you're ready to bill
